Howdy!
I really would like to get these out on Sunday nights or Mondays, however being the Mayor on this little Island keeps me very busy – I’ve been secretly wheelin’ and dealin’ all week -but I can’t tell you about that stuff…Shhhhhh!!! Also, this damn golf course job keeps getting in the way. Truth be told, I did get a little writer’s block over the weekend, Liza thinks the PBRs clouded my brain….def not the case – but maybe, hmmmm🤔?!?!?
I think it’s time for a special guest writer...cough, cough, cough my teamies Liza, Ben, Kate????! ORRRRRR maybe a fellow lobster potter who can share their experience??!
Food for thought!
But seriously, I will keep this week’s update short and sweet. Our barrel (55-gallon drum) of red fish bait came in the other day and boy is it the good stuff! Last week the fleet was out 4 days and we ended up with 12 legal lobsters between the two boats as of 6/21/2020, Father’s Day. B-T-Dubbs Happy Father’s Day to all you Dads out there. If you're one of those ones with a dad bod…check out Shawn T and you can get ripped like me – you’re also welcome to come learn a thing or two on the Island, I will keep you moving! I’m getting side-tracked…any whose, over the same period last year, we had caught a total of 7 keepahs. Remember we have 5 more traps this year!
I went to the “keeper trap” (trap attached to dock to hold all of our live lobsters until they are distributed or eaten) on Saturday night in hopes to cook a couple for Liza and I for a nice romantic waterside dinner. The trap was friggin’ empty!!! I was like (to myself) who the hell is stealing all my lobsters??? You can get them off the boats for $3.00 each these days, why steal ours?! Come to find out Ben and Kate took the first cooler full of lobsters down to the Duuuurrrty Jeerrz (totes need to quarantine upon re-entry) to spread the goodness around to Kate’s family – hopefully everyone enjoyed the freshness and goodness of our Maine lobsters. I never got any pics, kind of a head scratcher if you ask me, but o-well! I have to remember this year, WE are a TEAM and sharing is obviously caring! (Obvs they told me – plus we went out for dinner via boat anyway hehehe! Shout out to Pepperell Cove who has the best fried haddock sandwiches….
The Boss is still hard at work…. Does any one of our construction buddies have a foreman in training program? This household is building for the trades. No College debt here!!! Plus need some maintenance boys to take care of all these properties that I have somehow stupidly acquired!
Update: Lil Duder Lobster Co. is officially a company in the State of Maine! Can I get a Woot Woot?! I don’t want to hear anything about LDL Co. being a fake and made up company anymore! My accountant isn’t going to know what to do with all these LLCs! Side story - I had a Kittery Town Council Zoom meeting last night (well I listened) because the Town is debating a new ordinance on Airbnb and short-term rentals (which by the way I’m a strong advocate in favor of AirBNB). If you ever decide to watch paint dry and listening to a 1.5-hour long discussion among crotchety, curmudgeons you should tune in to your next Town meeting. There needs to be a change of the guard around that department…hey maybe that’s my next calling!
Weekly Spotlight:
Speaking of teamwork!!!! Can we get a shout out to the NASCAR #32 car of Go Fas Racing, this week's Spotlight Company and driver Corey LaJoie for an epic all team move yesterday at Talladega (yes, for those of you who don’t watch NASCAR, Talladega was postponed Sunday due to rain). Bubba Wallace ran out of gas just before the pits and LaJoie (Not actual teammates) gave him a “friendly assist” which helped Wallace finish the race. Not a bad day for the Go Fas team with a 16th place finish. Special shoutout to fellow potters and team owners/managers Archie & Mason St. Hilaire – seriously, you have a kick as team. Check out the full article here! Also to note – Archie owes us an Archies’ Kitchen and Lil Duder Lobster Roll Collab!!!!
Peace out!
