Slack City

I have failed all my people! I have even heard quite a few whispers about it.

I bug (no pun intended) you all spring to join this pot and now I haven’t held up my end of the bargain – to provide you all with the weekly catch count and some of my finest humor to help get you through these tough Mondays or Wednesdays! No excuses (aside from being really busy raising chickens, growing vegetables, and dealing with two little blood pressure raising kids)!!

We did throw a rain-filled 3rd of July bash celebrating this great nation (which took some time to recover from due to the extended July 4th celebrations that continued all weekend long). Highlight of the night may have been watching the kids chase chickens and spray the shit out of each other with the hose, while it was down pouring. Some of you may have had better weather luck than us but we sure had some fun in the process. Let's be honest though….what’s with all this rain?!? Does that mean we're going to get a ton of snow this winter?!? Trevor Mance and/or Steph Harvey, I need you to check the Farmer’s Almanac and get back to us!

As much "slacking" as I have been doing regarding the website, blogging, ista handle, etc. I can assure you that The Two Blue Boats have still been working hard - Crew. Kids, dogs, babysitters alike! And I know the biggest reason for the criticism is because everyone just wants to know where we stand! How many lobsters has LDL Co. caught this season?!?!?!?!?! The quick answer to that is 184. Now you can all go back to your boring spreadsheets, emails and conference calls for a boss you may not even like!

We ended June with 67 which was 10 more than June 2020. The water is starting to warm which means the lobsters are on the move and now we just have to find the honey hole(s)! Murphy's Claw is having a great July so far, and the Liza B is slowly heating back up. Most of the fleet's traps have been moved and settled into our "summer fishing" grounds. Now we just need to start hammering them!

We are currently trending a little higher than we were last year at this exact time - most likely due to the added 5 traps if I was to guess (doesn't take a rocket scientist or Jeff Bezos to figure that one out)! Look at the previous trends. We always get better as the months go on! We had our staple West Coast Califonian potters Tyler and Lindsay Caldwell join us for a few hauls over the holiday weekend. And while the weather and lobsters weren’t impressive, they carried their weight – Lindsay was pulling traps 6 months pregnant!! We recruited some friends from Miami – Thomas and Vanessa (no pics, sorry) – for 2022 after they took their first ride on the Liza B last week! Boats open to take whoever, whenever! Just send me a note.

Bugs will be traveling over the next few weeks to destinations near you – get in touch if you’re interested! Peace, Love, and Lobsters -Capt' Duder P.S. For those wondering... There are no more white roosters. Three roosters down three to go! If you want one, two, or three come and get ‘em!
