Good Morning!
It is that time of year again! Traps get wet this afternoon for another great season of lobstering! The boat went in on Memorial Day and looks really nice sitting out on the mooring. We put a fresh new stripe on the bottom, painted, waxed and buffed! All to go along with new wiring (thanks Kenny). I threw a new coat of navy-blue paint on the dingy named "Little Duder" so we look real sharp rowing out to the big boat.
A little change this year... instead of Kyle (aka Ken)
having 5 traps he is moving down to 1 or 2 category making room for Liza to deploy the remaining 3 or 4. This was NOT a demotion to mate Ken, but due to life and babies it is what it is. I really appreciate Liza stepping up and making sure we have our maximum 10 traps in water!
Last year we dropped traps on June 17th and needed to play around in the ocean to find our new honey hole - being our first season in Maine. We started the season with a whopping 2 lobsters caught in June, but quickly picked up steam. This year we are a week ahead, have our honey hole already locked in, and have a whole season of fishing so I hope we get off to hawt start. The bet ends Columbus Day each year, this year it is 10/14/19. Last year we wrapped the betting season with 254 lobsters caught (and 294 for the year, count attached) - Anne won the bet with a guess of 253.
We have had a lot of fun with this the last few years and would love for you all to participate again. If you are interested in getting into our fun, tasty big extended family and friends challenge, bets and $20 are due next Friday the 15th 5:00pm! Venmo, cash, check welcome! Please text Liza or Will your bets. One number per person no duplicates. First come first serve on numbers. We will send out the final bets to everyone on Friday night 6/15. Reminder: winner will be closest to - if a tie, pot will be split (i.e. if total lobsters caught is 204 Cait (203) and Peyton (205) split the pot).
We look forward to another (and possibly the last) season of competitive lobster fishing! As always, you are all welcome to join us in Maine for a fishing trip, a lobster dinner, and a fun time with the Liza B crew. For those that make the trip feel free to bring an air mattress - the downstairs condo will be ready in early July.
Instead of sending out separate family emails, we figured we're all in the family so get ready for one big crazy email loaded with updates! Oh and yes...bringing coolers of fresh Maine lobster to all!
NOTE: If I have left someone off this e-mail, my apologies. Please pass on to anyone who I forgot or anyone who you think would be interested. The more the merrier and bigger pot.
See and talk to you all soon!
Capt. Duder
