Fishing, Storm & Daddy Patrol

June 24, 2019, 10:12AM

Good morning all!

Hope you had a great weekend! I am day late on my update....

Since my last post I went striper fishing last Saturday at Kenny’s request, not sure why we wasted a great morning bobbing up down when we both know that we are not going to catch anything. I had to pretend that the engine had problems so that we could go back home! Later that day Liza and went out to do what everyone here is interested in! Mark 3 down for that day! We didn't go out on Monday because I was too busy evading the town of Kittery code enforcement because there happened to be a HUGE insulation truck parked in my driveway all morning!

Tuesday was another fun filled day still evading the code enforcement as the HUGE boom truck was slinging sheet rock all over the place. The only way to avoid having a little aneurysm was to go get a little salty! It was a nice evening, however Liza and I got skunked! Not sure why, but all the traps were completely empty. It had to have been karma from skirting all around town officials those couple of days. Liza and I moved some of the traps around and re-baited.

Saturday Rick and I spent 8 hours measuring the 8 windows in the unit......(unlike the normal saying measure twice cut once, we measured about 100 times and made no cuts!) With the evening looming closely (Little Duders dinner time) we had a window of opportunity to run out. The wind was howling but figured an off shore breeze wouldn't cause too many issues out there. I guess we should have checked the weather and or looked at the Radar....about 4 traps in there was a HUUUUGE dark cloud off to the north.

With Nawnie holding Little Duder, Liza and I tried to swiftly get the remaining 6 hauled and re-baited. We were not fast enough however as the wind blew us off our mark a few times and the hail started. We were officially stuck in the heart of the storm. I mean it wasn't quite like the perfect storm, but pretty close as I had to navigate the tight channels of Wood Island with one creaky windshield wiper - that is part of the next re-wire job! As the storm passed, we had no idea how many we had thrown into our bucket. As we put zed back to the mooring the sun came back out and shined right down on 7 little buggers!

Heading out tonight with some special guests from VT! Total for June so far is 14!

Talk Soon! Daddy day care doesn't run itself.
