Good evening!
Thanks to all of you who have decided to take part in the 3rd annual Lobster Pot Challenge. You are 76 brave sailors who have committed to embark on this thrilling summer adventure! This e-mail was supposed to go out last night, but just like any other thing you’re always waiting on someone or something...In this case I was just trying to clear the $1500 pot goal!!!!! Clearly our history precedes us, or maybe we all just like a good bet, but this is a HUGE (Trump voice) turnout... almost double last year!! So, while this means a bigger pot it also means a much more crowded bracket.
This is going to be a good season! The reports that I am getting from my fellow captains (neighbor Tony) say that the lobsters are still a little offshore but making their way into our fishing ground. Taking this into account, we didn't think much would come our first week in action. However, first mate Liza and I checked the traps on Monday/Thursday/Saturday (in her new XtraTuf booties) and caught 7 keepers!! For those of you that are new to this contest...that means that we have caught 250% more than June 2018 with 2 weeks of June left to go! Do the Math!
Thursday was rainy, damp, and blowing a few knots off the ocean. I happened to have a little spare time during my lunch break, so I decided to go out and brave the waters! In order to produce the quota to feed all you mongrels, a salty Capt. like myself must take risks and weather the storm. Out of 5 traps that I could check (can't pull Liza's if she is not on-board) I caught 6 "shorts" that I had to throw back. This is a good sign that the lobster are moving and our honey hole is starting to produce.
Beyond the lobsters and swift tides, the Liza B has seen some weird things. Some of you saw the swimming squirrels last year...weird? Yes, but weirder is a swimming deer! Follow our days and nights Aboard the Liza B to catch all the action.
The season is officially underway and its looking to be pretty darn good - just like our dinner tonight;)📷

P.S. Attached is the spread sheet with everyone's guesses. Please make sure that your guess is correct AND the one that you told me. I did what I could to do to keep track, but may have fat fingered something... plus, I also may have had a little excel mishap (should not have skipped so many of those classes in college, or use a 2007 computer).
P.P.S. There are a small number of you who have not sent in payment...You know who you are!!!!
